Footballing gear or sometimes called protective accessories in American football includes various equipment, and clothes that a player wears so as to avoid potential danger throughout the play. The most basic and important gears of American football are helmets, pads, gloves, shoes, and shorts. Even though they are not all gears used in gridiron, you can easily play this game without injuries with them.

Helmet 

Professional football players are always required to be worn a helmet while playing gridiron since it is considered the main protective gear of this game. It includes various elements from the jaw pads to the mouth guard that help to improve the level of its protectiveness. Jaw pads are made of soft material to crate comfort between the helmet and your jaw. The helmet, itself, prevents potential concussion while the mouth guard comes to your aid when an unexpected hit comes toward you. Thus, if you want to keep your head safe during the game, make sure to get ready your helmet in advance. Ultimately, you also have to consider its color as it has to be in the same color as the rest of the clothes.

Shoulder pads 

According to its name, shoulder pads are the type of equipment or clothing worn underneath. More often than not shoulder pads should include foam fabric that absorbs shock occurring during the game. Though pads seem soft from the inside, there is a firm plastic part of it on the top. The size of the shoulder pads varies based on the position, and size of the player. So, you have to go for the ones that suit you. In a word, since the game involves extreme actions like running, jumping, and even fighting while you are enjoying the play, you need to be worn all types of pads prior to any game you start.

Clothing 

It might seem funny that the jersey looks bigger than the actual size of the player, but it is made in this way on purpose. So as to accommodate the padding under it, the jersey should be oversized. As for the rest of the clothing, like pants or leggings, stretch fabric is used to increase the flexibility and also fit any other padding underneath.

Footwear 

Artificial turf is the field in which the game is organized, and in order not to have a bad grip there, you should have appropriate shoes. You can opt for specific shoes that consist of rubber cleats on the bottom of them. Again, one important thing you need to take into account, apart from cleats, is the type of material used to make the shoes. Such as, shoes are mainly made of either leather or synthetic materials. Leather ones are highly preferred due to their high flexibility and durability while synthetic cleats are not a good option if you want them to serve you longer.
